Sharing The Blessing, Kathy Galloway: SPCK 2008, :£8.99. A reflection on the spirituality and practice of working for justice and overcoming poverty, both local and global. People of faith are called to speak against all that distorts or diminishes the image of God in human beings. Patience and persistence is required, change is slow, difficult and often costly. This shows how you can be part of the change of working for global justice

A Moral Climate: Effects of global warming, Michael Northcott. Darton Longman & Todd, 2007, £12.99. Significant climate change as a consequence of human pollution of the atmosphere looks increasingly likely. Some change is already occurring but quite what magnitude of change will occur and what it will bring to different parts of the world remains unknown. In the face of this uncertain yet impending crisis, does it make sense to speak of a moral response? Michael Northcott argues not only that it does, but that it is an essential weapon in winning the battle against further environmental disaster.
The Re-Enchantment of Morality: Wisdom for a troubled world, Richard Harris. SPCK, 2008, £10.99. Society is confused about morality. Traditional Christian approaches are widely rejected while secular thinking offers little help. Richard Harris sets out an understanding of the relationship between Christianity and the decisions we make, which re-enchants morality with a profound appeal. He then considers this in relation to the four great drivers of human conduct - sex, money, power and fame - drawing on the biblical theme of Divine Wisdom and the radical teaching of Jesus. He does so ever aware that all decisions, not just our personal ones, have a moral basis, including political and economic choices
A world transformed: When hopes collapse and faiths collide, Pat Logan. Churches Together in Britain and Ireland, 2007, £15.00. Many of the hopes for civil society that burned so brightly in 1989 have evaporated. Inspired by the Towards Social Transformation seminars (1990-2004), A World Transformed explores why those hopes failed and what lessons we must learn. Taking a critical look at theologies of social transformation, it calls for the church to face the challenge of a new civilizing mission - beginning with a need of the theologians themselves to fully engage with the realm of politics, economics and culture in order to shape the realities of our future.
